Airlines release their award seats (seats you can book with points) at different times - but its frequently 10-12 months before the departure date.
Different programs have partner seats available at different times as well.
🔎 Let’s take Singapore Airlines as an example.
Singapore Airlines is a Star Alliance member, and it releases award seats to Star Alliance partners (like Aeroplan and United Mileage) for their members to book as well.
By using seats.aero release tools, we can see Singapore Airlines (SQ) becomes available at different times on its partner programs:
Book SQ on United Mileage - seats are available 337days before departure
Book SQ on Aeroplan - seats are available 355 days before departure
So imagine there are 5 seats available per flight in total. Aeroplan Point users can “see” those seats 18 days before United Point users can. Which means you have a higher chance of locking in the perfect redemption for Singapore Airlines with Aeroplan than with United.
