The two main things we use this for:
- Checking for the best seat and aircraft options for a route
- Comparing the cash price to the points price
ℹ️ 1. Checking for the best seat and aircraft options for a route
We often come across flights where airline has different configurations for the exact same aircraft type. Sometimes it’s hard to figure out exactly which departure has the better seat. Google Flights makes it easy to spot the difference on the super premium products - for example Qatar Airways.
🔎 Qatar Airways Qsuite - A350-1000
The Qsuite on Qatar’s a350-1000 is incredible, but not every single Qatar a350-1000 has Qsuite, so we use Google Flights to figure out which ones do. If it says “individual suite”, you’re good to go!

ℹ️ 2. Comparing the cash price to the points price
Whenever we book flights with points, we calculate the total cost of the flight including points + taxes and fees.
(calculation = cost of points you need to book the flight + taxes&fees cost)
We then compare to prices we can see on google flights (to get accurate prices most frequently) to understand if we’re getting a good deal (50% discount or more)
