Our favourite features and use-cases
Availability:
- Aeroplan generally has incredible availability across a very long list of partner airlines (alliance members + partnerships) - in some cases we find more availability for an airline through Aeroplan, than through the airline itself.
Booking Singapore Airlines (sometimes)
- Singapore Airlines is the 2nd Best Airline in the World 2025, it has an excellent Business Class Product with amazing service and quality. It’s definitely among the top airline experiences in the world. Besides some temporary Blackout periods, (where there is almost 0 long haul availability) Aeroplan is in our experience the best program for booking Singapore Airlines Biz Class for good value.
Amazing Search Functionality:
- Seats.aero isn’t always great, but it is super powerful for Aeroplan. The only issue to keep in mind when searching - it will sometimes not show multi-leg trips - you’ll need to look directly on aircanada’s website to see that availability.
Predictable Prices (Clear Award Chart)
- The award chart is clear and offers great value for both short and long haul travel with broad distance brackets. Always aim to reach the upper end of a distance bracket to get max value.
- For example: Distance bracket is 2.001-5.000 miles, if you’re flying 2.001 miles you’re getting bad value, if you’re flying 4.999 miles you’re getting amazing value.
- You can use stopovers to help maximize the brackets!
- Some Airlines are subject to Dynamic pricing within the distance brackets - usually bad value (AirCanada and “select partners” like Emirates, Etihad and a few others)
Stopovers
- Aeroplan has one of the best stopover programs available - you can add 1 stopover up to 45 days for just 5k points. The main benefit of this is staying within distance brackets on the award chart. Shopping Portal (Earning Points)
- Aeroplan’s shopping portal is good for people living in Canada → shop for products and services you buy anyway and earn points. Not great value for anyone not in Canada.

🗓️ Sale Frequency: Aeroplan usually has a Bonus on points every 2-3 months
🤑 Best Recent Deal (2025): 100% Bonus on points (13.50 per 1000)
BUYING POINTS:
✅ When to Buy: When cost per 1000 pts is $13.50-$14.50
❌ When NOT to buy: When cost per 1000pts is ≥ $14.50 we recommend waiting for a better deal.
ℹ️ Nuance: If you need the points for a certain flight you have your eye on, then of course paying ≥$14.50 can still get you high value.
